After the announcement that Toyota and BMW will be forging a partnership in July 2012 for the research and development of electric vehicles batteries, both automakers are now preparing to enter into an agreement to share hydrogen fuel cell technology including powertrain electrification, CFRP production, and future architecture of the vehicle. Both Toyota and BMW have been planning to launch prototypes of fuel-cell powered vehicles.
Fuel cell vehicles function using electricity made from a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. The good thing about this idea is that it will not produce any carbon dioxide and delivers five times longer distance than battery-powered electric vehicles. Future owners of this vehicle can fuel up with hydrogen at any gas station.
