With the intention of becoming the world leader in producing premium electric vehicles, BMW will spend much time in research and development to achieve maximum sustainability in the whole production process. This starts from the suppliers until the end of the vehicle life cycle recycling.

Eco-friendliness, economic efficiency and social compatibility will be the guiding principles in the development of this vehicle. At the same time, design, performance, and safety will also be ensured.

The 2013 BMW Megacity vehicle will be powered by a lithium-ion battery on its floor with 35 kWh of capacity. Power will be concentrated on the rear wheels by using a rear-mounted 150-hp electric motor. Top speed will be 95 mph, and the driving range will top at 100 miles. It will be 157 inches long with a two-door, four-seat configuration.

BMW believes that the results of their MINI E testing are enough to prove that the driving range is just enough fro urban driving. BMW engineers also ensure that daily battery charging will not be required.

There are still so many details that are not yet available as of the moment. We will know more as it is expected to be unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show.
