Videos – BMW ActiveHybrid 7 Review

A review done by the Diesel Driver revealed that the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is an overall fun vehicle which is fuel efficient at the same time.

BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is a gasoline-fueled mild hybrid with an electric motor which reduces complexity, weight, and cost of the vehicle. When the car brakes, coasts, or stops, the engine automatically shuts off to conserve fuel. The energy that would normally be wasted as heat through the brakes are recovered using brake energy regeneration. This reduces the battery power and fuel needed for the car to function.

The ActiveHybrid 7 uses a twin-turbo direct injection V-8 engine capable of 455 horsepower and maximum torque of 151 pound-feet. A new eight-speed transmission is utilized to transmit power. The energy from the battery is pushed back to a power network to the rear wheels when the car accelerates, so it will not require the engine to combust. This results to 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds and 15 percent more fuel efficiency than the 750i.

This is a video of the ActiveHybrid 7’s Central Display which gives a real time view of how the V-8 engine and the electric motor interacts. The battery charge, energy flow, and efficiency within the last 15 minutes can also be monitored:
