The Night Vision Technology option is offered for the 2011 BMW F10 5 Series. This is an intelligent technology under BMW ConnectedDrive which allows the driver to see objects in the dark up to 900 feet ahead of the vehicle through the infrared camera located behind the kidney grilles. This video shows us the Night Vision Technology in action:

The BMW Night Vision was specifically formulated by BMW for safety purposes. With this technology, the driver can easily see in the dark even without the headlights on — thus avoiding any cause of danger or collision. All pedestrians and cyclists can be identified immediately and is highlighted on the Control Display for the driver to see. This is also especially useful for country driving where there might  be animals in the peripheral vision.
