Spy Photos – Next generation BMW 1 Series (F20) caught testing

The next generation BMW 1 Series set to be launched in 2012 continues its testing. Based on these photos alone, we can infer that this will be the smallest BMW in the 1 Series fleet — thus making it the more sporty to drive. Learning important lessons from the first 1 Series, BMW promises thay this time, quality and handling dynamics will definitely be improved.

The car is taking a wider stance on these photos. It looks like what we see here are the real headlights because the camouflage replacement headlights have been removed. The real front end has been fit as well. This will most likely have the high-beam light in a horizontally higher position than the driving lamps. A closer look at the grille would also reveal that it is inverted. All these characteristics will give this BMW 1 Series one of the most distinctive front view in the fleet.

When this launches, it will be in a 5-door hatchback trim. Then later on, a 3-door hatchback and then a coupe will most likely to follow.
