The BMW i3 M60 is coming, and it will land in early 2027. BMW has signed off a hot M Performance version of its electric saloon. It slots in above the regular i3 range and below the quad-motor electric M3. Think of it as the warm-up act before the main event.

Power comes from a twin-motor set-up already seen in the iX3 M60. The headline figure is 603bhp. Torque lands at 875Nm. A 112kWh battery feeds the lot. The rear motor does the heavy lifting, with a smaller unit up front filling in. That keeps the delivery rear-biased, exactly as a fast BMW saloon should feel. The clever four-motor torque vectoring stays reserved for the M3.
BMW has not published performance figures yet. Work backwards from the iX3 M60, though, and the sums are easy enough. The lower, lighter i3 should crack 0- 62 mph in roughly 3.7 seconds. Top speed should be pegged at 149mph. That puts it level with the petrol M3 Competition on sale now, which is quite the statement for a car wearing an M Performance badge rather than a full M one.
Charging is where the Neue Klasse platform flexes. Peak rate is 400kW. A 10 to 80 per cent top-up takes around 20 minutes on the right charger. Ten minutes plugged in should add roughly 211 miles. Total range is still to be confirmed, though the slippery saloon body should help it sail past 500 miles on the WLTP cycle.
Visually, keep expectations measured. Expect fresh wheel designs, contrasting brake callipers, and a reworked light signature with yellow daytime running lights when the dipped beams are on. The bodywork stays close to the standard i3. Subtle, then. The numbers do the shouting instead.
