The BMW iX1, an all-electric crossover, rarely graces the racetrack. Yet, BMW’s South Korean team took this high-riding EV for a spin at Incheon’s Driving Center. This thrill ride tests their latest models, with the iX1 showcasing its impressive zero-emission prowess.

The iX1 completed the circuit in 1:35.28, nearly matching the heftier iX3 and the previous-gen 7 Series in the 745Le spec. It was just a second slower than the i4 eDrive40 and two behind the iX xDrive50. Surprisingly, the 420i Convertible trailed behind at 1:39.10, taking significantly longer than the iX1.

If you’re curious, the M4 tops the leaderboard at the BMW Driving Center in South Korea, clocking 1:25.06. The i4 M50, BMW M’s top seller in 2022 and H1 2023, ranks second at 1:28.22. Lastly, the M240i and i7 xDrive60 share the third spot, each posting 1:31.02.

It will be fascinating to compare the newly-launched X1 M35i’s speed with the iX1 xDrive30. This inaugural M Performance version of the compact X model weighs 345 kg less, promising more agility during high-speed cornering.
