BMW’s presence at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed was electrifying. Alongside a bevy of cutting-edge electric vehicles (EVs), the brand didn’t neglect its iconic internal combustion engine (ICE) performance cars. Stealing the spotlight were the limited-run M3 CS sedan and the fiery Touring wagon in MotoGP Safety Car attire, making for a formidable M3 duo. The duo confidently conquered the famous hill in West Sussex, accompanied by the impressive i5 M60 and i7 M70 electric cars.

Enthusiasts may soon witness the perfect fusion of potency and practicality with the potential launch of an M3 CS Touring. BMW is actively testing this hotter wagon, aiming to meet the soaring demand for M3 Touring units, as M CEO Frank van Meel revealed. However, it all hinges on the available production capacity at the Munich factory.

The M3 CS Touring, if greenlit, will likely follow the sedan’s exclusive production model. With plans to assemble 1,700 to 2,000 examples of the flagship G80, BMW is open to extending production if demand surpasses expectations – a trend seen with the 1M and M4 GTS.

BMW’s impressive lineup also featured the current-generation M4 as a Competition model, alongside the awe-inspiring revival of the 3.0 CSL as an M4 CSL with enhanced power and a manual gearbox. The festival’s highlight, however, was the ultra-exclusive modern-day Batmobile, with only 50 units of the M4 CSL sold at a staggering €750,000 each. Completing the ensemble were the M2 G87, XM Label Red, H2R concept, and iX5 Hydrogen, further reinforcing BMW’s dominant presence at Goodwood FoS 2023.
