A BMW i8Â hybrid sportscar prototype was spotted during its final testing phase. This vehicle from the BMW i sub brand will go on sale in 2014. The same person who took these photographs attest to seeing the typical BMW driver-oriented cockpit, complemented by a digital display positioned behind the steering wheel which displays driving-relevant information on the interior of the vehicle. There is also another infotainment display free-standing and located centrally, just like the ones seen on the new 1 and 3 Series models. The vehicle also features a Head Up Display, extensive carbon fiber taking down the weight to just 1450 kilograms, a 170 horsepower electric motor that drives the front-wheels, a 1.5 liter 3-cylidner turbocharged petrol engine producing another 223 horsepower in combination, and a flexibility of using front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive one, or even an all-wheel drive setup. In full electric mode, the BMW i8 can travel up to 20 miles.
