The Frankfurt Motor Show in September will be the host of the second generation BMW 1 Series unveiling. The compact 1 Series hatchback will feature a new and fresh design that embodies and evolution of its predecessor. This vehicle will be available in three and five door variants, both using BMW’s new expendable platform variation platform for cost effective production. The 1 Series will remain a rear-wheel drive vehicle and shares the same L7 architecture as the next 3 series. See the test prototype in action on this video:
