Here is a recent spy photo of the next generation BMW 1 Series Hatchback as BMW engineers continue their testing. The whole 1 Series fleet will get a complete overhaul in 2012 and 2013. This vehicle was known internally as F20 and is already due to be unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Design wise, this new BMW 1 Series Hatchback will feature a slightly longer wheelbase and wider track than its predecessor. It will be available in three and five door variants with both models using the new variation backbone platform and will be using parts sharing in line with BMW’s production cost cutting. It will remain to be a rear-wheel drive vehicle and shares the same L7 architecture as the next 3 series. A wide range of engines will also be offered including turbo-petrol engines with three or four cylinders.
