CarWow is at it again. Riding on the hype of the Rio Olympics, they continue with their version of car games. The idea is brilliant, by the way. Surely, we have never seen an automotive Olympic Games in the past. Similar to the real Olympics, the participants of the games must come from different nations. After all, they are representing their flags. The BMW M2 already represented Germany in Rhythmic Gymnastics, Reverse Drag Race, and exhaust shot competition. Now, it participates in track & field.
The challenge is genius. The participating cars will get to accelerate as hard as possible over a short distance. Then, they will be knocked in neutral. This allows us to see which car covers the longest distance. In the real Olympics world, it is very similar to the long jump sport.
All weight saving efforts by the automakers are thrown out the door since it will have no bearing. In fact, the biggest car will probably have the biggest advantage in this contest due to the greater momentum that it will provide. The participants are the same from the past videos.
The Honda Civic Type-R represents Japan. It had some difficulty gaining traction and speed in the track’s small section due to its front-wheel drive setup. Nonetheless, it still gained quite good results as it covers 182 meters.
The BMW M2’s rear-wheel drive architecture should have acted as an advantage. It was able to carry more speed but the wide tires came in the way. The tires pulled back and it ended up covering only 180 meters.
The Caterham did not stand a chance because it weighed so little. It just covered 161 meters.
The winner for this category is the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It completely fed the competitors dust by covering a whopping 328 meters. In the real Olympic world, the Jeep could have beat Usain Bolt’s record. The American flag wins this round of track & field.
