The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe Bows Out In Grand Style For 2026

The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe is bowing out, and it means to leave a mark. This four-door fastback enters its final year for 2026. To mark the occasion, BMW has crowned the range with a limited Edition M Heritage. Just 500 will be built.

The tribute looks back to the E31 8 Series of the 1990s. Five BMW Individual colours set the tone, among them Bright Red, Mauritius Blue metallic and Daytona Violet metallic. The details do the talking. A carbon-fibre roof, Orbit Grey 20-inch wheels and black M Sport callipers mark it out. Inside sit full Merino leather, Alcantara sport seats and tri-colour M stitching.

The rest of the line-up carries on familiar ground. The 840i and 840i xDrive use a 335bhp turbocharged straight-six. The M850i xDrive brings the muscle with a 523bhp twin-turbo V8 and all-wheel drive. Every car keeps the M Sport package and the illuminated kidney grille that glows as you approach. The fastback roof does pinch rear headroom, but the boot stays usefully deep.

There are gripes. Android Auto is still absent across the range, an odd omission at this level. Even so, the Gran Coupe holds a clear identity. Set against the Porsche Panamera and the Mercedes-AMG GT four-door, it stays the driver’s choice. As send-offs go, the 8 Series Gran Coupe goes out on a high.
