The BMW Concept Speedtop made a dramatic first appearance on the shores of Lake Como during the 2025 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, immediately asserting itself as the standout modern machine among the classic metal on display. BMW’s latest study combines shooting-brake grace with Touring practicality, and it will move beyond the concept lawn into an exceptionally limited production run of just seventy cars—enough to create instant desirability, yet few enough to preserve exclusivity.
Viewed in profile, the Speedtop stretches a taut, tapering roofline that flows into a neatly sculpted tailgate, giving the car a purposeful stance even while parked. A forward-leaning front end houses slender laser headlamps and a backlit double-kidney grille, both framed by crisp character lines that guide the eye along muscular rear haunches. The hand-applied paint graduates from Floating Sunstone Maroon to Floating Sundown Silver over the roof, highlighting the central spine and drawing attention to the bespoke 14-spoke two-tone alloys that fill out the arches with confidence.
Open the frameless doors, and the cabin greets occupants with traditional craftsmanship rather than high-gloss gimmickry. Rich Sundown Maroon leather meets Moonstone White hide in a two-tone sweep across the seats and door cards, punctuated by brogue-style perforations echoing classic motoring gloves. A subtle light strip runs along the roof’s interior spine, softly illuminating a space designed for long-weekend journeys for two. Behind the seats, leather straps secure a pair of made-to-measure Schedoni suitcases, while the luggage bay—also trimmed in leather—offers room for a matching weekender bag, proving that style needn’t compromise utility.
Beneath the beautifully contoured bonnet sits BMW’s most potent V8 currently in service. The twin-turbo unit promises abundant torque across the rev range and the sort of linear surge that keeps grand-touring credentials intact, whether threading Alpine passes or gliding along the autostrada. Though performance figures remain under wraps, BMW is confident the Speedtop will deliver the benchmark pace expected of Munich’s finest eight-cylinder engines.
With its limited allocation already open to collectors, the Concept Speedtop continues BMW’s recent tradition of turning Villa d’Este showpieces into tangible road cars. Each example will be hand-finished at the Dingolfing Manufactory workshop, guaranteeing meticulous attention to detail from panel fit to the final stitch.
