BMW aims to grow faster in China than the premium market

BMW has seen the importance of the Chinese automotive market in the past year. The market has significantly helped BMW and other automakers in the premium segment to recover from economic difficulties. Since Audi became the first to build vehicles in the Chinese soil, BMW aims to increase their local production there. The sales in the region for the last three months increased 79% for BMW and just 23.5% for Audi. With these digits, Audi’s lead might be cut short soon.

From January to November 2010, BMW has sold 152,866 vehicles in China. This is a total of 90% increase from the same period last year. BMW plans to continue focus on the Chinese market, with future premium electric vehicles playing an important role in their growth.
