No matter what colour we put on the 2023 XM, it will still stand out as controversial. With that, fans are not convinced that the boldly styled plug-in hybrid SUV’s gold accents are a good fit. Selecting the longer Shadowline alternative with its variety of black highlights will get rid of them.
BMW’s first “M” car since the M1 of the late 1970s/early 1980s is being shown off at the Toronto auto show in M Toronto Red without the usual flashy gold trim. Those monstrous 23-inches (923 M) with a two-tone finish are the largest wheels ever factory-installed on a production vehicle. You can also make the XM stand out with these wheels but with gold spokes.
While the 2023 XM’s reveal occurred nearly two months ago, there is still a lot to consider about its design. BMW chairman Oliver Zipse is standing by the bold aesthetic choices made for the latest 7 Series/i7 and X7 LCI, as you may have heard. Though he notes the surprising fact that “almost everyone loves the XM,” he maintains that forward-thinking design philosophy is bound to spark controversy. The top executive reaffirmed that only these massive automobiles embrace the outrageous style, while smaller models will play it safe.
Zipse claimed that BMW doesn’t care whether people find the company’s unconventional design approach appealing. The primary focus of the business is on the shoppers in this market. The massive kidney grille first seen on the M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe/Convertible has been carried over to the new M3 Touring.
