The first BMW car launched on the new CLAR platform was the 2016 BMW 7 Series, which allowed it to be built with lighter materials and shed a significant amount of weight. Furthermore, CLAR platform facilitates using some new materials, such as Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer.

The production process for CFRP was over time improved to reduce cost and it’s finally available for commercial use. In the video above by DPCcars, you can see how the Carbon Core technology works and how the new 7 series is built.
