BMW chooses MeeGo as their Infotainment Platform

Meego, a Linux based platform, will be used for BMW’s In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI). Not only BMW but the whole GENIVI Alliance consisting of major automotive members, including BMW, GM, Hyundai, and Peugeot.

Meego is an operating system created February 2010 by Intel and Nokia that will support a huge range of digital applications and devices such as netbooks, tablets, phones, etc.

According to GENIVI Director Gerulf Kinkelin, “access to a thriving ecosystem and engaging applications for an in-vehicle infotainment system is vital to our customers.” BMW has not released an official statement yet on how they plan to integrate this platform to their vehicles.
