Alpina has collaborated with Pirelli to come up with an individual version of the Ultra High Performance tire P Zero that was exclusively made for the German tuner. Pirelli said that this tire was developed precisely according to the specifications wanted by Alpina. It will be placed as special edition tires one the all-wheel drive BMW ALPINA B5 BiTurbo Saloon and Touring models. Talk about tailor-fitting these tires, Alpina also homologated this version of the P Zero tires that were customized to the individual characteristics of the cars they are used on. The new tires are marked with ALP on their walls to set it apart from the rest of the range.
Having the proper tires is extremely important for the new BMW Alpina B5 BiTurbo because it delivers more power than ever. It is powered by an upgraded version of the new 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 used on the M550i model. Thanks to Alpina’s tuning, the power output is now 608 PS between 5,750 and 6,250 RPM while torque reaches 800 Nm (605 lb-ft) from 3,000 RPM.
Pirelli understands what it takes to transmit that amount of power to the road. Their engineers designed an individual version of the P Zero in close cooperation with the chassis developers of Alpina. Tire technology derived from motorsport in combination with a flat bead seat contour and an innovative tread profile allows for pronounced transverse dynamics and precise steering behavior. The tire has low wear and the good driving behavior on wet roads.
Thanks to these new Pirelli P Zero tires with the OE code ALP, the new BMW ALPINA B5 BiTurbo is able to tap its full potential optimally in all road situations. For the B5 BiTurbo, the tires measure 255/35 ZR20 on the front axle and 295/30 ZR20 (Touring: 285/30 ZR20) on the rear axle.
