2017 Market Launch for the BMW X2?

Another exciting BMW plan in the pipeline is the X2. The SUV will be based on the current, second-generation BMW X1, with the UKL architecture currently used for MINIs and the X1. That being said, it will be front-wheel drive. However, an all-wheel drive option will be available. It will be positioned on top of the X1, which is not a bad vehicle at all. The X2 is expected to be sportier and more fun to drive. It is likely to do a market launch in 2017.

2017 Market Launch for the BMW X2?

BMW’s decision to create the X2 is influenced by other automakers also investing in their own niche SUV/Crossovers. The Audi Q2 will dominate this category if BMW does not act on it soon. BMW wants a piece of the market of millennials who live an active and fast lifestyle.

A good sign that this is a serious vehicle is the genuinely great chassis of the car and the eight-speed automatic gearbox. To show its seriousness, the design will be slightly more aggressive than the X1. It will have a more sweeping roofline and more tucked rear compared to the X1. The interior is expected to be similarly comfortable and spacious.

BMW turbocharged three and four-cylinder engines will power the X2 range. A 1.5 liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0 liter diesel in the base cars will be available in Europe. A B48 turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine may be the only one for the American market.

Until the BMW X2 market launch happens sometime in 2017, BMW will excite us with what they have in store.
