BMW M Hybrid V8 Claims Fourth Spot in Sebring 12 Hours

In the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s second round, the BMW M Team RLL showcased impressive performance. Despite not winning, they secured commendable fourth and sixth places. Turner Motorsport’s #96 BMW M4 GT3 finished sixth in the GTD class, while Paul Miller Racing’s #1 BMW M4 GT3 secured fourth in the GTD-PRO class.

The #25 BMW M Hybrid V8, driven by Connor De Phillippi, Nick Yelloly, and Maxime Martin, consistently led the fiercely competitive GTP class. Despite briefly leading the standings, they faced challenges in the final stretch, jeopardizing a podium finish. Meanwhile, the #24 team, comprising Jesse Krohn, Philipp Eng, and Augusto Farfus, overcame setbacks, including a delayed puncture and rear wing damage, to secure sixth place after recovering from being a lap behind.

BMW M Motorsport teams showed potential for top performances in both GTD classes but faced setbacks preventing podium finishes. Paul Miller Racing’s #1 car, driven by Madison Snow, Bryan Sellers, and Neil Verhagen (all USA), secured fourth place in GTD-PRO. Turner Motorsport’s car, piloted by Robby Foley, Patrick Gallagher, and Jake Walker (all from the USA), finished sixth in the GTD class. Both cars had led their classes at various points before the race.

Louis Deletraz drove the #40 Acura ARX-06 alongside Jordan Taylor and Colton, finishing ahead of Sebastien Bourdais from Cadillac Racing. The #7 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963, piloted by Matt Campbell, Felipe Nasr, and Dane Cameron, secured third place. Jack Hawksworth, Ben Barnicoat, and Kyle Kirkwood clinched the GTD Pro championship in the No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 by Vasser Sullivan Racing. Philip Ellis, Russell Ward, and Indy Dontje claimed first place in GTD while driving Winward Racing’s No. 57 Mercedes-AMG GT3.
