Mount Panorama dished out its usual mix of bruised bodywork and split-second gambles as the Bathurst 12 Hour unfolded in chaotic fashion. Amid the safety cars, heavy shunts and even a lengthy stoppage, BMW’s M4 GT3 EVO programme kept its nose clean often enough to walk away with two strong results and plenty of hard-earned points.
Team WRT’s #46 entry — driven by Augusto Farfus, Raffaele Marciello and Valentino Rossi — stayed in the sharp end from the opening laps, threading through the mess while rivals tripped over trouble. The outright pace wasn’t quite there to seal another Bathurst victory, but a disciplined run, tidy pit work and relentless consistency delivered a well-deserved third place and another podium for the crew.
The story of the #32 sister car was pure endurance racing drama. Kelvin van der Linde, Jordan Pepper and Charles Weerts lost significant ground early after contact forced a front-end change, yet they clawed their way back with punchy lap times and smart calls during caution periods. A bold late refuelling plan put them at the head of the pack for the final restart, only for a Turn 1 collision in the fight for the lead to crumple the car and drop the trio down the order.
Away from the headline battle, Team KRC turned heads on its Bathurst debut. Max Hesse, Maxime Oosten and Ruan Cunfan shrugged off damage and repairs to mount a gritty comeback, hauling the #89 M4 GT3 EVO into the top five overall and securing a class podium. It was the sort of result built on resilience: keeping the car alive, nailing the strategy windows and leaning on every ounce of grip the circuit would give.
