Team WRT wrapped up the 2025/26 Asian Le Mans Series run with real punch in the UAE, taking two victories from the final four races across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The results showed what the BMW M4 GT3 EVO can do over a long stint when strategy, tyre life and traffic management all click, even if the championship maths ultimately didn’t fall their way.
Dubai began with a slog. The #28 crew of Gabriele Plana, Sergey Stolyarov and Augusto Farfus brought the car home sixth in GT, while the sister #69 entry for Dan Harper, Parker Thompson and Anthony McIntosh failed to reach the flag. One race in, WRT had work to do, and little margin for another stumble.
Race two in Dubai flipped the story. The #69 fought a Porsche wheel-to-wheel, then turned the contest in the pit lane with sharp timing and clean execution that put Harper out front for the run to the chequered flag. Under pressure to the last lap, he held firm and crossed the line with less than a second in hand, while the #28 suffered another retirement that blunted the team’s overall points haul.
Abu Dhabi initially looked like it might be a Mercedes-AMG day, but as the sun dropped and track temperatures cooled, both BMWs found extra bite. The #69 converted that late-race strength into another win, with the #28 backing it up in second after both cars started further down the order. The finale, however, unravelled early: a major incident brought a lengthy red flag for barrier repairs, and the restart left WRT chasing rather than controlling. The #28 finished seventh and the #69 tenth, results that allowed the #74 Kessel Racing Ferrari crew to keep the points advantage and seal the GT title.
Even with the crown out of reach, WRT leaves the series with multiple wins and second overall in the GT standings, plus a driver line-up that looks well-drilled for the next job. Harper, Thompson and McIntosh now pivot to the FIA World Endurance Championship in the M4 GT3 EVO, with the season opener in Qatar scheduled for 26–28 March.
