BMW NA Head of Marketing Jack Pitney: Cause of Death

Jack Pitney, head of marketing for BMW of North America, died six days before assuming a new job as vice president for BMW’s eastern region, BMW’s largest sales zone in the US. BMW has previously released a statement about his death but did not immediately provide details on what happened.

According to the Daily Freeman, a New York newspaper, Pitney died on an accident while was vacationing at his New York farm. On Wednesday, August 26, 2010, Pitney was trying to remove a tree stump with a tractor when the tractor flipped and landed on him, causing his death. He is survived by his wife and five children. He was just 47 years old.
