The DTM championship battle remains wide open after Schubert Motorsport’s superb one-two finish at the Red Bull Ring. With Marco Wittmann starting from pole and René Rast alongside, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO proved dominant on Saturday. Rast surged into the lead after only a few laps and sealed his 31st DTM victory, while Wittmann gained second place on the final lap after Jack Aitken’s spin cleared the way.

The Sunday race brought tougher conditions, with both drivers carrying success ballast from the previous day’s triumph. Rast began from seventh, and Wittmann was caught in early contact that sent him tumbling down the order. Both fought hard to recover, but a pit stop infringement and slow zone penalties dropped Rast to 13th, with Wittmann just ahead in 12th. Despite this, both remain firmly in the title hunt heading to the Hockenheim finale, with Rast sitting third in the standings and Wittmann still mathematically in contention. Schubert Motorsport also holds second in the team standings, just 16 points behind the leader.
The weekend was not just about DTM. In the ADAC GT Masters, Schubert Motorsport celebrated a podium as twin brothers Sandro and Juliano Holzem guided the #56 BMW M4 GT3 EVO to second place in Sunday’s race, following a strong fourth on Saturday. The result added to the team’s momentum as the season drew to a close.
With the BMW M4 GT3 EVO proving its mettle across multiple series, both Schubert Motorsport and BMW M Motorsport remain fully focused on converting their championship chances at Hockenheim.
