ALPINA B5 GT Sedan Boasts 0 to 124 MPH Top Speed

The BMW M5 CS and ALPINA B5 GT, exceptional road cars, are now unattainable dreams for many enthusiasts. Limited to just 250 units, this remarkable vehicle showcases ALPINA’s dedication to delivering an unparalleled driving experience. BimmerToday had the privilege of test-driving the saloon version, giving us an insider’s perspective on this elusive masterpiece.

The ALPINA B5 GT proves its prowess with blistering acceleration. Boasting the 0 to 62 mph time of 3.2 seconds and a 0-124 mph sprint completed in 10.2 seconds, this sedan is nothing short of extraordinary. Though slightly heavier, the Touring variant remains impressive, achieving 3.4 seconds and 10.9 seconds for the same sprints, respectively. With top speeds of 330 km/h for the sedan and 328 km/h for the estate, the ALPINA B5 GT is undeniably in a league of its own.

Among the lucky few who managed to secure an ALPINA B5 GT, the sedan will be an even rarer gem. Production is limited to 70 units, while the remaining 180 vehicles will be delivered as wagons. Powered with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine generating a staggering 625 hp and 850 Nm of torque. With hp figures almost on par with the previously mentioned M5 CS and an additional 100 Nm of torque, the ALPINA B5 GT offers an unforgettable driving experience.

Despite ALPINA B5 GT’s uncertain future, BMW has already teased the next-generation M5 set to launch next year. The upcoming M5 will feature significant changes, shifting from a pure internal combustion engine setup to a plug-in hybrid configuration. The new M5, larger and heavier than before, will offer over 700 hp and an anticipated Touring version for the US. As ALPINA transitions under BMW Group, the future of another B5 model remains uncertain. ALPINA might focus on the 7 Series and X7 to bridge the gap between high-end BMWs and entry-level Rolls-Royce.
