AutoBild, a German magazine, gives us a rendering of the new BMW Compact model. This front-wheel drive city car is expected to launch in 2013. BMW sources are said to confirm that this rendering is fairly close to the final design; which gives us an idea of how BMW will present a totally different idea in BMW design: an edgier three-dimensional appearance. If this is true, this will signify the new design direction for BMW.
BMW’s decision to develop a front wheel drive is in line with their goal of reaching emissions targets through a cost effective production strategy that can be used by both MINI and BMW vehicles. A BMW Compact concept form is expected to be unveiled in 2012.
