And those who purchased from North America will start receiving their vehicles as early as the end of this year. In the meantime, European countries must wait a bit more. You may have only heard of the San Luis Potosi plant just now. No doubt because it is the latest addition to the company’s worldwide manufacturing network. It comes built and designed to be easily adaptable to the manufacture of various model units. Its addition has significantly increased production in just 2 years, including the manufacture of plug-in hybrid vehicles. Over time, further investments came in, paving the way for integrating the 2 Series Coupe into the production line. As of 2019, the Mexican plant continues to contribute to BMW’s global production. And with over 170,000 BMW 3 Series units produced, they have already accounted for 3% of BMW production.

Upgrading the factory through investment includes 82 new robots in the bodywork area. Meanwhile, reprogrammed old robots are capable of machining parts with different geometries and welding, riveting and bolting. The BMW 2 Series Coupe will be available in two new colours in Brooklyn Grey and Thundernight Metallic. BMW Group presents the latter as a new colour and comes exclusively to the San Luis Potosi plant.

Introducing an all-new 2 Series Coupe for 2022, this second-generation unit leads the Bavarians’ small, two-door, compact segment. BMW began competing in this segment back in Neue Klasse with the BMW 1600. And they further proved the German brand’s relevance with the iconic BMW 2002. Launching in the market in November 2021, this BMW 2 Series could be the first and last iteration of the range.
