Car and Driver, a U.S. publication, reports that BMW has confirmed the naming convention for the upcoming M model based on the 4 Series Coupe: the M4. The same publication says that the M3 badge will only be used for the sedan variant while the M4 is reserved for the coupe and a future convertible. An M4 Gran Coupe is also rumored to appear in the next few years. No confirmation has been made for the powertrain but it is expected to be a a 3.0 liter inline-six turbocharged engine delivering up to 450 hp. Design wise, the M4 Coupe will be based on the recently released 4 Series. To differentiate from the 3 Series, the vehicle will have new headlights, a sleeker front apron, and an overall sleek look with usual M components. It will also have a bulge in the hood for aerodynamic and aesthetic reasons. The BMW M4 is expected to go on sale in 2015.
