BMW rumored to plan an i5 model

Rumor has it that BMW is planning a BMW i5 vehicle. Rumors about this vehicle have been circulating since August 2011. Autobild, a German magazine, now reports that this midsized four-door electric vehicle’s design strategy is still being discussed. The cues may include sleek aerodynamics, rear hinged doors, high roof, spacious trunk and enough space to carry four people.

The BMW i5 is likely to use a rear-wheel-drive platform with a 170 horsepower electric motor mated to the range extending gasoline engine producing another 90 horsepower. The i5 will also utilize cutting-edge CFRP technology. As of the moment, we still need to take this information with a grain on salt.
