Automobilwoche reports some interesting plans that BMW has for the Mega City Vehicle. BMW Board Member Ian Robertson mentioned that the short-term car rental system the that other car manufacturers use is quite interesting. “We don’t want to sell the car but its use,” Robertson continues. By allowing consumers to rent the vehicle, there would not be any pressure of buying or leasing it. The development process of the Mega City Vehicle translates into high production costs. Buying or leasing the vehicle might be too costly for the consumers. Renting the vehicle leaves the worries of the battery life to BMW’s experts.
The same automobile publication reports that the actual name of the BMW Mega City Vehicle is likely to be unveiled this 21st of February, 2011. The vehicle will launch in 2013.
