BMW ahead of schedule to meet EU CO2 Emission 2015 Targets

Automotive News reports that BMW is currently ahead of schedule to meet its 8% emission reduction target for 2015. This will significantly lower the CO2 emissions of BMW vehicles to 139g/km from 151g/km in 2009. Back in 2009, BMW Group already achieved 10.2% reduction in emission levels. From 172g/km in 2007, they successfully reduced it to 154g/km in 2008. If they do not meet the 130g/km by 2015 target set by the European Union for CO2 emissions, BMW will be imposed heavy fines. But at the rate things are going in this initiative, BMW is in a confident stance.

The EfficientDynamics program played a big part in BMW Group’s success in reducing CO2. By investing in research and development, BMW has created fuel-saving and emissions-reducing measures across the BMW fleet. These includes EfficientDynamics technologies such as Auto Start-Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration and Active Aerodynamics, and a lot more.
