The BMW M2 Racing is heading to the 24 Hours of Nürburgring on 21st and 22nd June 2025 for a crucial last trial before it becomes available to BMW M Motorsport customer teams in the 2026 season. This compact contender has already racked up over 30,000 kilometres in test sessions, and the demanding Nordschleife circuit offers the perfect environment to confirm its readiness.

Belgian racers Ugo de Wilde and Charles Weerts will join forces with German BMW M works driver Jens Klingmann, who has guided the BMW M2 Racing through every stage of its intensive development. German journalist and seasoned driver Michael Bräutigam will also climb aboard to share his insights. Together, they will put this new entry-level car through real-world challenges under the unforgiving conditions of the Nürburgring.

De Wilde secured his Nordschleife permit earlier this year and is keen to gain experience in his first 24-hour race. Weerts, third overall in 2024, is returning to this legendary track in a different machine after swapping his GT3 seat for the BMW M2 Racing. Klingmann, deeply involved from the start, believes every kilometre at the Nürburgring is vital to perfect the car’s handling, reliability, and driver comforts. Bräutigam brings valuable on-track knowledge and a journalistic viewpoint that will help refine any final adjustments.
Running in the SP3T class, the BMW M2 Racing will be fielded by FK Performance Motorsport, the team responsible for its earlier test runs in the Nürburgring Endurance Series. Their experience with the car will be instrumental in ensuring a smooth performance, from pit strategy to final checks on software and driver swaps. This race is the culmination of the car’s development phase, a definitive yardstick of how well it will serve future customer teams.
Once the 24-hour race concludes, BMW M Motorsport will draw on all the data and insights collected to finalise the production version of the BMW M2 Racing. The hope is that every corner taken, every gear shift made, and every lap completed at this historic venue will result in an ultra-reliable, versatile race car ready to challenge circuits far beyond the Nordschleife.
