[WORLD PREMIERE]: BMW X2 — Small and Stylish

The car makers today have to worry about much more than just performance – the young professionals that are the big part of their market want cars that are stylish and equipped with a lot of fancy gadgets. Urban stylish crossovers seem to be the top one choice of millennials so that’s what the manufacturers are making.

The new X2 has been built on that formula and it looks like a youthful car on a first glance. You can easily imagine a young IT professional parking it in front of the Starbucks where he will order an organic soy-bean coffee and take a picture for Instagram before he drives off. But it’s so much more than that. It is a car that can truly appeal to enthusiasts, and that diversity is what makes it great.

Compared to the X1, the BMW X2 looks sportier and a bit more aggressive, but it’s also more stylish. It comes in three trim levels: Basic, M Sport, and M Sport X. 

As Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design, said, “The BMW X2 represents an expression of modern and extrovert vehicle dynamics. Its standalone vehicle concept brings a new, fresh and exciting facet of the BMW to the compact segment.”

The X2 is powered with a selection of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. It will come as a BMW X2 xDrive18i, xDrive20i, xDrive20d and xDrive25d. The most powerful one is the X2 xDrive20i with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder good for 192 HP and 206 lb-ft of torque.
