[VIDEO] The new BMW M3 and M4 Run for a Drift Test

The new BMW M3 and M4 are seen with professional drift pilots to test their performance on the track. BMW M teams up with Joe and Elias from the Driftbrothers this time. The long drift sessions took place at Hockenheimring where a ‘standard’ drift and an M Drift Analyzer assistance were performed on the M3 and M4.

So what’s with the Drift Analyzer, you might think. This system is new and operates by literally measuring your drift. It involves measuring the distance, the length of time, and even the slip angle of your drift. The Drift Analyzer will then give it a score to which five stars is the highest. Evidently, the M Drift Analyzer should be used mostly on track. But if you think you’ll have a lot of errors with this, do it in an abandoned airfield. The main focus should always be the safety of the driver.

There are also a lot of warnings integrated into the iDrive sub-menus before reaching the Drift Analyzer. You will need to completely deactivate the DSC and perform a few more steps in order to successfully engage it. In this video, BMW M engineer Thomas joined the two drift pilots. He explains some of the new tech in the new BMW M3 and M4. And it is definitely something that you need to look out for if you want these new beasts. Watch the videos for more.
