The BMW XM brings a new challenge to other performance SUVs

The new BMW XM will soon appear as a unique and more powerful SUV. To some extent, we all know that it is BMW that has made performance SUVs well-received. The X5 M and the X6 M are the real proof we have of that. However, the Bavarians have somehow decided to stop following their usual production process for this new performance SUV. Apart from the fact that it will compete with unusual companies like Aston Martin and Lamborghini, the new BWM XM with its Roundel is also more powerful than ever before.

The final production of the BMW XM is getting very close, even though it is still in the concept phase. This means that we can no longer expect any major changes from the concept phase to the final product. It also means that its new competitors can already expect several comparisons with the new BMW XM.

An all-new V8 engine, combined with some batteries and an electric motor, will accompany the new BMW XM when it gets on the road. We can expect the hybrid powertrain to offer 750 hp of power and 1,000 Nm of torque. In terms of its pure electric range, the new BMW XM is expected to get around 30 miles. And last but not the least, this new XM concept gives us the most controversial styling ever. This even sets it apart from the unusual rivals that surround it.

When we talk about mega-powerful SUVs, the first SUV that comes to mind is the Lamborghini Urus. Its 641 hp and 627 Nm of torque are effortless thanks to its 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8. The Urus also manages 0-60 mph in around 3.1 seconds. This makes it an incredibly fast SUV, but at a much higher price than the BMW XM.

The new Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT also joins the competition with its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. This engine, which is very similar to the Urus, ensures that it reaches almost the same speed and, at 3.1 seconds. One of the advantages of this car is its impressive balance and weight-saving, as it is a much smaller high-performance car.

While the arrival of the new generation Range Rover is still unclear, it also competes with the BMW XM. Its SVR version gets a more powerful engine with around 600 hp. Here, however, we still have to wait and see. The Bentley Bentayga doesn’t really match up with BMW XM’s role as a performance SUV, but this luxury vehicle also offers almost the same price range and engine power. It also has a chance of beating the competition, given how well Bentley builds its cars and how much prestige they offer that could entice customers to buy them.

The BMW XM can feel quicker compared to a normal SUV, especially for starters. However, the price is also more reasonable for this unique concept. The BMW XM could be the best choice for you if you can handle the new styling and want to own a super performance SUV.
