[VIDEO] BMW M4 CSL Teaser Proves Expectations

BMW M4 CSL has been a long time in the making and has a lot of roles to fill. It won’t be easy to succeed the M3 CSL E46 as an heir. Still, BMW feels it has built a performance car worthy of the “Coupe Sport Lightweight” nickname. Watch this video as BMW M4 CSL teaser proves our expectations so far.

Just in time for the M division’s 50th anniversary, the M4 CSL debuts with a fresh look. It wears a retro-style ducktail spoiler, reworked front grille, and additional intakes in the bumper. The M4 CSL looks powerful in updated headlights with yellow accents, similar to the M5 CS, and reworked taillights. Thanks to a more robust suspension system that sharpens the car even more than the M4 Competition.

The M4 CSL also sports Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Rs, recognized among the best road-legal tires available. BMW also confirmed that they eliminated the back seats. This change reduced more than 100 kg (220 pounds) of its weight. The presence of shift paddles behind the Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel is also true. Although there will be no manual transmission, the M4 CSL will be available with rear-wheel drive.

With the M4 CSL, the M division promises increased performance. This is proven not just from weight decrease and more excellent tires. A more robust S58 engine should push the twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six surpassing the M4 Competition’s 503 hp.

BMW will release all the much-awaited details about the production car on May 20. Also, the BMW M4 CSL only comes in 1,000 units. Lastly, the video ends with what appears to be a fast-lap drive at the Nürburgring. According to recent reports, the M4 CSL has lapped the Nordschleife in just over seven minutes. Nothing has been confirmed but we are excited about its debut. In the meantime, check out the BMW M4 CSL teaser!
