The new BMW M3 and one of its biggest competitors, the Audi RS4, are compared for the first time in a recent review. We’re back with another classic battle between two famous German high-performance vehicles. This takes place after the guys from Carwow were fortunate enough to match the two against each other. Given that the M3 is a sedan and the RS4 is only available in Avant (wagon) form, this isn’t a perfect comparison.
Nonetheless, until the BMW M3 Touring officially comes out, we’ll have to make do with these two for the time being. Talking about its design, the two are totally different, and architecture will still be a profoundly personal matter. Mat points out that it’s not only about size, it’s also about form. The Audi has a wider grille overall, even as opposed to the massive nostrils on the current M3. Audi has a better implementation.
Within, both cars are finished to the high expectations we’ve come to expect from these two companies. According to Mat, the BMW has more spacious back seats, with plenty of space in either direction. However, car enthusiasts are more interested in something else, such as their sprints. In terms of specifications, the BMW M3 Competition has the advantage. It has more than the RS4’s 450 horsepower and 600 Nm because it has 510 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque.
The RS4 might have the upper hand from a standstill. That is because it has the quattro all-wheel-drive system. While the M3, also in Competition trim, is currently only available with rear-wheel drive. The M3 can be much better starting this summer.
