BMW Alpina Arrives in Australia in November

As the new reports go, BMW Alpina models will arrive in Australia by November 2016. With the rise in demand for BMW vehicles in Australia, German tuner and manufacturer made a decision to enter the new market later this year. Since the Aussies are huge fans of high-performance cars, Alpina models might be just what they want and need.

The cars will first be available in the In Motion Group shop in Melbourne. Later on, more dealerships will follow. The first models to enter the land down under will be BMW Alpina B4 BiTurbo which is based on BMW 4 Series, and Alpina B3 BiTurbo Sedan and Touring, based on the BMW 3 Series. If everything goes well, more models will come in the future.

The production won’t move; Alpina cars will still be made in Germany. They will be imported into Australia and have a price tag similar to M models. We’re not talking about a huge number of units here; Alpina cars are a true niche product down there.

Jonathan Ganser, the Alpina product manager, commented for Drive:

Our customers are typically people looking for a high performing car which is easy to use every day, which offers more comfort … and these are customer which are not looking for an M car – it’s too hard core – they don’t find a standard BMW unique enough.

That’s where the secret of Alpina’s success is. They have found the unique market that values luxury over performance, while still delivering very powerful vehicles. It’s the fact that they are a refreshment on the market.
