BMW has quietly sharpened one of motoring’s most recognisable badges, and the change is about to become impossible to miss. After debuting on the iX3, the updated roundel is set to appear across the entire BMW line-up from next month, giving every bonnet and tailgate a slightly fresher face.

At a glance, it still reads as classic BMW, but the details have been reworked. The badge drops the inner chrome ring and moves to a flatter, more modern finish, with revised tones and textures that look cleaner in daylight and under showroom lighting. The proportions are tighter, and the white sections sit closer to the outer ring, which makes the whole graphic feel more precise.
BMW’s design team has framed it as a subtle evolution rather than a reset: heritage stays intact, but the execution is crisper, with refined lettering and surface detailing intended to feel premium when you’re up close. It’s the sort of tweak you notice most when it’s parked next to an older car, where the previous emblem suddenly looks busier.
The update won’t stop with the standard range, either. BMW is also preparing a refreshed M performance logo, due to begin appearing on vehicles in February, and if it follows the same approach as the roundel, expect a light touch rather than anything radical. BMW has a long history of polishing its branding in small increments, and this latest change continues that steady, methodical approach.
