The BMW M badge has always been about sharper responses, stronger brakes and a cabin that feels built around the driver. Now that same mindset is moving onto the screen, with BMW M rolling out a set of dedicated in-car apps designed to add more performance data, more driver focus and a bit more purpose to the daily commute.

The trio starts with M Cockpit, a configurable digital hub that turns your display into a proper data station. It offers multiple layouts that can be tailored to show live readouts for driving dynamics, chassis behaviour and powertrain information, so you can keep tabs on what the car is doing rather than guessing from the seat of your pants.
Then there’s M Drag Meter, aimed squarely at straight-line runs in the right environment. Using GPS-supported measurements, it tracks speed and distance, logs acceleration and deceleration, and captures response times from a standstill. It’s a neat way to quantify launches and consistency, whether you’re dialling in technique or simply comparing runs after a session.

M Channel rounds things out with on-demand BMW M video content built directly into the infotainment system, handy when you’re charging, waiting, or taking a breather between drives. BMW says the experience is tuned for clear playback and strong audio, keeping the M theme going even when the car is stationary.
The first model to receive the apps is set to be BMW’s new iX3 electric crossover via BMW Digital Premium for vehicles equipped with M Sport or M Sport Package Pro, with broader rollout planned later for BMW M vehicles running BMW Operating System X. BMW is also folding a dedicated BMW M Community into the MyBMW app, offering M-specific content and connections, launching first in Germany for owners of eligible M High Performance and M Performance cars from 2014 onwards.
