[Video] BMW 750i gets tested at the Nurburgring

It isn’t exactly an everyday occurrence to see a BMW 7 Series on the Nurburgring being driven hard. Sure, BMW is proud of how the 7 Series moves, but even so, you can not beat the laws of physics and a vehicle that will reveal its constraints on the famous Green Hell for a long time. Therefore, certain flags are bound to pop up when one notices what looks like a BMW 750i being driven hard on the track during an industry prototype testing day.

We don’t know exactly what is being examined here. But there are some valuable bits of data that we can derive from the video if you look closely. It is undoubtedly a V8-powered car. The sound comes unmistakably from a V8 and possibly from a 4.4-liter engine.

One must also wonder whether that V8 might be the one to be utilized under the hood of the incoming BMW X8. As we already reported, that car is bound to be a bespoke model. Using a 750 HP powertrain made up of a V8 and some electric helpers. The issues with that hypothesis are that we should have seen some ‘hybrid test vehicle’ stickers on the car. If that was the case. And this isn’t the case.

For that model, could this still be a mule? Yes, and the internal combustion engine could be checked separately by BMW here to verify different tolerances and other parts. Nevertheless, we can’t be sure about any of the hypotheses we can bring together right now. It’s all odd, but it’s pretty clear that some research is being conducted here. This car is driven primarily because of the way it is driven. Pushed to the very limit, and leaning in the corners as though it were about to tilt over.
