One of the guys from BMWBLOG had the opportunity to drive around Palm Springs, California, in the latest BMW M240i. He was the same guy who drove both the 230i and M240i in Munich before – how lucky this guy is! This time, it got better as he sprinted on the track at the Thermal Club. But before anything else, it’s essential to note that the M240i is a road car in nature. Meaning, its performance on the road is more important than its performance on the track. This latest video is from his recent trip to Munich, where he describes how the M240i Coupe performs on some German roads.
At the moment, the BMW M240i represents the pinnacle of the 2 Series lineup as it is the M Performance version. The upcoming BMW M2 will ultimately replace it, but for now, the M240i is the top dog in the 2 Series.
In the US market, it carries a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine, producing 382 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, it only generates 374 horsepower in Europe due to stringent vehicle emissions. Paired with an eight-speed automatic, it’s still undeniably fast. With xDrive all-wheel-drive, it hits 60 mph in under 4 seconds. When it comes to performance, it’s hard to argue with an all-wheel-drive over rear-wheel drive.
The M240i Coupe is a true BMW, and it handles how one would expect. Compared to an M2, its steering is lighter and less communicative, but that’s by design. It carries over the characteristics of an M Performance car, which goes beyond the razor-sharp sports type. The M240i is quick, enjoyable, and comfortable enough to drive every day.
After all, BMW holds an excellent standard for smooth and comfortable driving. It seamlessly combines a well-rounded vehicle that’s easy to drive and enjoyable to ride in. And as we can see in the video, the BMW M240i Coupe just does that.
