The BMW 5 Series GT Initial Design Sketches

BMW Concept drawings have been spotted in a recent promotional video released by BMW. As this photo shows, its design is unconventional and adventurous. Sources confirmed that these drawings are the initial sketches of the BMW 5 Series GT. These were done by the one who made the final design of the 5 Series GT, BMW’s Exterior Designer Christopher Weil.

We know that the design of a car may change drastically from the design stages to the execution because of the alignment, engineering, safety regulations and even market surveys. In the case of the 5 Series GT, surveys showed an aging market that looks for luxury, but not willing to spend as much as a 7 Series would cost according to Adrian van Hooydonk. These factors changed the concept to what it is today.

But through these drawings, we can see that the design that Christopher Weil initially made for the 5 Series GT was innovative and daring. However, not all ideas on the design stages cannot be brought to reality.
