Autocar, a UK publication, reports that the next generation 2015 BMW 7 Series will be lighter compared to the current F01/F02 models. The same publication reports development boss Herbert Diess saying that the new 7 Series the most technically advanced car in BMW’s history. It will be using more carbon fiber than steel. If rumors are correct that the weight savings will be dramatically below the 1900kg kerb weight and and potentially even the 1670kg of the current entry-level 5 Series, then the new 7 Series will be one of the most dynamic luxury sedans in the segment. As of the moment, these weight numbers are quite ambitious, especially when recent spy photos point to the same 5010mm long, 1815mm wide and 1425mm tall dimensions.
