M Performance Automobiles lineup to replace “is” models

The BMW M Performance Automobiles were revealed earlier this year as a new interpretation of current BMW models with an added “M touch.” So far, the M550d xDrive, BMW M550d xDrive Touring, BMW X5 M50d and BMW X6 M50d and M135i were introduced. All of the vehicles from this lineup will feature a significant boost in performance, efficiency and M precision through improvement in the powertrain, chassis and aerodynamics. Car and Driver reports that the M Performance vehicles will be replacing the “is” cars currently available for the 1 and 3 Series, and the Z4 Roadster. A source told the same publication that they “won’t make the change right now as it would confuse customers, but with the next model generation change, the successors of these models will be M Performance vehicles.”
