Collaboration between BMW and the Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer will extend beyond BMW i products. BMW M announces that the Creative Director Sound at the BMW Group Renzo Vitale, with Hans Zimmer, produced a distinctive driving sound exclusive for new electrified M cars. According to the Academy Award Winner Hans Zimmer, every BMW has its character. And it reflects on the sound it makes. Moreover, he states that the driving sound they made for electrically driven BMW M models accentuates the emotional driving experience. “..Particularly vividly and ensures their performance can be felt with even greater intensity,” Hans added.
The upcoming BMW i4 M50 top model of the new 4 Series electric range is also the first M model to get a fascinating sound. According to BMW, its driving sound takes its cues from the personal preferences of the driver and driving situation. Future Electrified BMW M owners can activate it with a touch of a button. The sound creates a pleasant atmosphere and vibe within the car when in Comfort mode. But when you are into more sport and fun, its SPORT mode delivers a more dominant and powerful sound. However, the acoustic feedback in ECO PRO mode did not reduce.
Furthermore, the German automaker states that the sound in the upcoming i4 M50 is far more engaging. It also has a more technical profile. “When you press the pedal of an M car, you suddenly get goosebumps all over your body,†says sound designer Renzo Vitale. “We translated this feeling into a drive sound that expresses a fusion of superior power and flowing energy.â€
BMW had a project with the driving sound of the BMW Vision M NEXT in 2019 together with Vitale and Zimmer. It also includes the BMW Concept i4. However, it is unfortunately now canceled. Moreover, the standard BMW iX comes standard with the Iconic Sounds Electric and is an option on the i4. What makes things even interesting to enthusiasts is BMWs future BMW M cars in the electric drivetrain, getting the well-tuned exceptional sounds.
