Dr. Kay Segler, the BMW M Boss, will be leaving BMW M GmbH to take over management of the Mini brand. Segler has already been the head of MINI from 2004 and 2008. He was replaced by Wolfgang Armbrecht when he was appointed head of BMW M. Now he is taking back the same position from Armbrecht. Wolfgang Armbrecht’s new assignment within the BMW Group has not yet been announced.
Segler is a BMW veteran. He has been a part of the BMW Group since 198, handling work in sales, marketing and management functions. With MINI’s plans for expansion, they will be needing Dr. Segler’s expertise with the brand. MINI’s goal is to boost annual sales to 300,000 units from about 234,000 last year. They are continually expanding their line up to meet the said goal.
Effective May 1, 2011, Friedrich Nitschke will be taking office as the new BMW M boss. Nitschke is responsible for the Mini series within BMW’s development division. He has also held many other positions in the BMW Group since he joined the company back in 1978.
