BMW Car Alternatives: Wearable Transportation

BMW gave a group of automotive design students in European Institute of Design Barcelona, Spain to design future concepts for ‘Suits That Transport.’ The students surprisingly came up with interesting wearable alternatives to cars.

The first concept, shown above, is called the Comme des Voitures.  It is a futuristic roller blading outfit. The boots have an array of ball-bearings in the soles, while the face shield is a semi-transparent wraparound display that provides real time directions, traffic information and a variation of interesting visuals.

The second is a City-Skiing concept that features tall and short skis, along with a suit that resembles those being worn by astronauts. Other concepts include the Flymag cape-like suit with a human-powered scooter, and the B-Motion hoverboard and backpack combination.

These may sound weird at the moment, but who knows? We might just end up using these in the future.
