More audience participation for BMW fans attending the Le Mans this weekend is required. But this will involve just using their own cameras. BMW is looking for great pictures of the race, and of the 17th BMW Art Car. If you happen to be going there for the weekend, see the official release below:
Official Release: BMW continues its tradition of contesting the Le Mans 24-hour race with BMW Art Cars via its entry of a Jeff Koons-liveried BMW M3 GT2. This car created great interest during scrutineering at the “Place des Jacobins†on Monday and also on the following days, proving to be a major attraction for photographers.
BMW Motorsport has decided to provide an incentive for officially accredited Le Mans 24-Hour photographers to perfectly capture the BMW M3 GT2 Art Car in action by staging a photo contest. The photojournalist who, in the opinion of the jury, enters the most impressive photograph of Car Number 79 in action during the race weekend will receive a cash prize totalling 1,000 Euros.
At the “Circuit de la Sarthe†the BMW Art Car finds itself in its natural element by taking on the strongest opposition in the world’s toughest motor race. In order to best capture the dynamics of the BMW M3 GT2 in a racing environment, this competition is open only to accredited photographers.
The winning photograph will be selected by a respected jury which includes BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen and the three drivers of the BMW Art Car, namely Dirk Werner (DE), Dirk Müller (DE) and Andy Priaulx (GB).
How to take part:
- One photograph of the BMW M3 GT2 Art Car may be submitted per photographer/photographic agency. Entrants submitting more than one photograph will only have their first entry considered.
- The photograph must be of print quality (minimum long side dimensions of 30 cm at 300 dpi), and be sent in jpeg/jpg format to the following email address: [email protected]
- Each entrant will then receive a fax entry form, which must be completed, signed and returned to validate the entry. Entry into the BMW Art Car competition will be confirmed upon receipt of the duly returned fax.
Closing date for the submission of the photograph is Friday, 18th June 2010 at 12:00hrs CEST. -The winner will be announced over the course of the coming weeks, with the photographer receiving 1,000 Euros. The winning photograph will be used for a poster depicting the BMW M3 GT2 Art Car, among other uses. The jury’s decision will be final and binding.
